Community News: Western Diocese Bids Farewell To Archpriest Fr. Asoghig Jamgotchian

It is with heavy heart that we inform about the passing of Archpriest Fr. Asoghig Jamgotchian, who entered his eternal rest on Sunday, August 29, 2021 due to complications from the coronavirus. 

He served his the Armenian Apostolic Church, his, family, and community with unrelenting dedication and determination. He served at St. Gregory the Illuminator Armenian Church of Pasadena, St. James Armenian Church of Sacramento, the Armenian communities of Whittier, Las Vegas and most recently, in Victorville.

Fr. Asoghig cherished and held in reverence the Word of God, the sacred traditions of the Armenian Church and family values. His kindheartedness earned him the love and respect of all who knew him.

Archpriest Fr. Asoghig Jamgotchian served in the Western Diocese for the past two decades. He was a beloved clergyman, husband, father, grandfather, and a friend to many. On behalf of the Diocesan Council, the Diocesan clergy and the faithful, the Diocesan Primate Archbishop Hovnan Derderian conveys his deepest condolences to the Jamgotchian family and to all mourners.

The final rites, which include the consecration and burial, will be held on Monday, September 13, at St. Leon (Srbots Ghevontiants) Armenian Cathedral (3325 N. Glenoaks Blvd., Burbank, CA 91501) at 10 AM with His Eminence Archbishop Hovnan Derderian presiding and officiating over the Last Unction.

The burial service will be held at Forest Lawn Memorial Park – Hollywood Hills at 12:30 p.m.
