AGBU Hye Geen to open the 7th Pregnant Women Center

Sponsored by Tamar Kevonian

The AGBU Hye Geen movement began in 1994 in Los Angeles, California. The mission of the movement is to pave the way for women to initiate their own social programs and manage them.  The program empowers the individual woman and accomplishes the main mission of the movement:  To be part of our national civil society.

While lecturing, giving seminars, workshops and so forth enlighten the mind and ignite ideas, they do not empower.  Ideas need to be implemented, tested, and executed to give results.

That is precisely what happened in 2002, when the first Pregnant Women’s Center was established in Gyumri, Armenia. It was apparent that such a center was welcomed by the local community where there were hardly any possible outlets for women.  Pregnant women in particular, had no opportunities to get out of the house, to be socially engaged, to be supported by women who were similarly situated, and to be supported by professionals, such as gynecologists, nurses, and psychologists.  The AGBU Hye Geen center filled this important need for the pregnant women in Gyumri.

Today, in 2022, after twenty years of hard work; organizing, fundraising and growing the program, the young women of AGBU Hye Geen and their friends have initiated and established six centers.

Hye Geen is pleased to announce the opening of the seventh center in the Sevan district of Armenia, thanks to the sponsorship of

 Tamar Kevonian of Glendale CA.

Tamar is a unique young woman full of courage and determination.  Her love of life and her dedication to her daughters and husband Sevan are beyond belief.  Amazingly, it was simply a happy coincidence that the sponsorship proposed to them bears the name the “Sevan Center” in Sevan, Armenia.

Thank you Tamar and Sevan for showing your love for those who need it most.  Our mothers to be in our motherland need it urgently.
