Many people gain weight during the Christmas and New Year holidays not only because they eat too much, but also because they consume large amount of alcohol during those days.
Nutritionist Jennifer Bruning says that consuming a lot of alcohol does contribute to weight gain. First, alcohol increases hunger, and a person may start eating too many snacks. Second, sugary beverages and those with high alcohol content are high in calories, but people do not realize this.
If you want to celebrate the New Year happily but at the same time maintain your body, the nutritionist advises to reduce the amount of your alcoholic beverages during the holidays to 1 or 2 servings per day.
According to the specialist, it is better to limit yourself to one glass of beer or one glass of wine or one glass of strong alcohol a day.
