A single sunburn can cause certain gene mutations in the surface cells of the skin, said dermatologist Natalya Zhovtan, Riafan.ru reports.
The respective changes can appear even 20 years after the burn, the doctor explained.
Pigmentation is considered one of its most harmless manifestations.
Then come hemangioma, and seborrheic keratosis, the specialist noted.
“But the most dangerous consequences are the oncological processes. And the most painful thing is that you cannot turn back time, you will not be able to change the process of formation of seborrheic keratosis; it has already happened, and there are no magic creams and medicines for it,” the dermatologist explained in an interview with Gazeta.ru.
