Mothers are able to transmit antibodies to corona virus to their babies through breast milk. This is the conclusion reached by scientists at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York.
Thanks to breast milk, breastfed babies may receive partial protection from the corona virus, The Daily Mail reports.
American researchers studied the milk composition of 75 women who recovered from the corona virus. As it turned out, antibodies were present in breast milk up to 10 months after the infection of the mother. Most milk samples from mothers who tested positive for COVID-19 neutralized the virus.
Now scientists want to find out if the immunity obtained through vaccination can be transmitted through breast milk. Moreover, they want to use the antibodies of breast milk to develop a new drug for COVID-19 for adults.
