Skin symptoms have become more common in people infected with the omicron strain of coronavirus, said British epidemiologists led by Professor Tim Spector, who are studying the diverse signs of coronavirus infection as part of the ZOE Covid Study project.
According to experts, the symptoms of the omicron strain are often similar to those of SARS, but they have their own characteristics.
Experts also named six main signs of omicron, which can be determined by the condition of the skin.
First of all, patients may experience so-called covid toes on their feet. They may change color, becoming red or purple, and may also become itchy or rash.
Chapped or sore lips can indicate the presence of an infection. It is especially worth worrying when they become cyanotic or pale gray – this indicates a lesion of the respiratory system.
In addition, a rash or patches may appear on the skin, which will cause scabies. Also, in the presence of omicron, a person may show signs similar to prickly heat – skin irritation that occurs due to the fact that a person sweats heavily and at the same time it slowly evaporates – or hives. Finally, skin symptoms may be similar to frostbite – bulging red painful spots.
